Long Island Ducks Baseball

HI everyone. I thought I would share a few images from September 8 2017. The Long Island Ducks played against the Bridgeport Bluefish for what could be the very last time. They played at Bethpage Ballpark, in Central Islip, NY.  The Bluefish are a team in Connecticut and are not doing well financially. Unless something changes where they move somewhere else, this could be their very last season. They are one of the original teams in The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball Players, when the league formed in 1998.

Long Island Ducks near end of season.

duckstrophyad

The 2017 baseball season is nearing an end. While it was a very rough first half, the second half proved to be a bit better.

In The second half, The Long Island Ducks have a 5.5 game lead over the Bridgeport Bluefish, in the Liberty Division and are now tied for first with the Somerset Patriots in the overall standings of the season. Both teams have identical records.

It has been an up and down season, with pitching shutting down or keeping runs to a minimum and hitting has been up and down, with the core players hitting way below average. Marc Krauss and Angelo Songco being major highlights for the team. They had a very good streak during the month of August, winning 16 out of 20 at one point.

The pitching and hitting need to over come any and all obstacles if they intend to make it to the playoffs and championship series. Their rivals, The Somerset Patriots are right behind them. If the Ducks take charge, as they have done in the past, they will out do their rivals.

Best wishes Long Island Ducks. It has been a fun year and I hope you make it to the playoffs.
