2020 Baseball Season for The Long Island Ducks Cancelled

The Long Island Ducks confirmed today that they will not be playing baseball in 2020. They went through every effort and compliance with New York State and Suffolk County rules and regulations due to COVID-19 issues and a decision was reached after last weeks ruling by New York State not to allow fans to attend games. A 25% seating capacity had come to mind for phase 4. No fans, no money, season ended before anything could happen. While some leagues might be able to survive through sponsorship and television revenue, Atlantic League teams cannot. They are 100% reliant on fans at the ballpark.

Some teams in the Atlantic League were able to survive in different leagues, due to different state regulations. While not sanctioned as part of Atlantic League play, teams such as Sugar Land Skeeters, were able to play. The Ducks unfortunately cannot. Many teams in other states had to close the door on the 2020 season, so the Ducks are not alone.
Hopefully, 2021 will bring brighter skies, warm summers days and a lot of baseball.

Here is a link directly from the Long Island Ducks.

Deno’s Days of Distancing Together #10: Charles Denson on the History of the Wonder Wheel

This youtube clip, gives a short history on Deno’s Wonder Wheel in beautiful Coney Island Amusement Park in Brooklyn, NY.
Located at Coney Island Amusement Park in Brooklyn NY, that area has a lot to offer. Aside from the LandMark Amusement Park, it is next door to MCU Park, Home of The Brooklyn Cyclones and has beautiful beaches as well. There is also Nathans famous hotdogs right down the block.|
This video about the Wonder Wheel enhances the heritage and culture of that area and is filled with large amounts of history, regarding that area.
Enjoy the video!

This is from the youtube section Deno’s has, on the particular video #10:
Charles Denson, director of the Coney Island History Project, talks about the Wonder Wheel, Coney Island, and the inventions of Leonardo da Vinci. While writing his book on the history of the Wonder Wheel, he came across some amazing connections between Da Vinci and Coney Island. Denson says that many of Da Vinci’s 15th century mechanical drawings resemble rides in Coney Island, but there’s one machine that he invented that stands out among the others: Da Vinci’s design for a Perpetual Motion Machine.

A little blurb about the park:
“Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park is a family-owned amusement park located at Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York City. It features five adult rides and 16 kiddie rides, including a dozen family rides that parents and children can ride together.”
